Molding:
A variety of presses enables HOLZ to produce rubber parts weighing as little as a few ounces, or as much as 600 pounds.
In molding, as well as several other processes, some products require the bonding of rubber to metal. HOLZ has special facilities for processing and preparing metals for bonding. These facilities involve degreasing, several types of grit blasting, chemical treatment, and the application of a variety of primers and cements to assure proper adhesion, regardless of the elastomer being used.
Rubber Lining:
Many applications require that a protective coating or lining of rubber be applied to the inside surface of a container, pipe, tank, pump, or similar item to protect the metal surface from wear and/or corrosion. For such applications, HOLZ laboratory technicians first develop an appropriate compound to withstand the hostile conditions involved. A skilled lining staff custom fits the rubber material to the internal surfaces of the item being lined. This operation involves pattern cutting, laying down the rubber to conform to the inside surface of the item, and careful matching of seams.
Lined products range from rocket motors to heavy-duty mining equipment.
